This is the story of three generations of Turkish people living in Germany. Aşık Metin Türköz, who came to Cologne 50 years ago as a worker at the Ford factory, taking his saz (a traditional Turkish stringed instrument) with him, is now most proud of his children’s excellent education and successful careers. Çağlar Budaklı, born in Berlin Kreuzberg, is a child of immigrants who got involved with gangs in his youth. Ceren Koç, also born in Berlin, was the target of ridicule from her friends because of her broken German. Along with the life stories of these three real characters, the book explores important themes such as being an immigrant, integration, language, belonging, and multiculturalism.
