The September 11th events triggered fear of Islam in society due to certain Western anti-Islamic groups, politicians, and media. The media contributed to the spread and increase of Islamophobia worldwide. Tolerance, integration, and freedom of expression are perceived differently when it comes to Islam. This was also seen in Germany. With the rise of the Pegida group, this event affected many Turkish and Muslim individuals living in Germany.
