How did we get to the point where campaigns such as ‘how many centimeters is yours’, ‘if there are no small fish, there are no big fish’, ‘don’t make Istanbul long for bluefish’, ‘if we don’t eat it, there’s a reason’ are being organized?” The adventure of the documentary ‘Bosphorus Fishes’ began with wondering the answers to these questions. Where had the dozens of fish in the book written by Karekin Deveciyan a century ago gone? And it was not only the fish that were lost. The culture of a city intertwined with the sea had disappeared.
