The Gorani Kurds living in the Hewraman region of Iran continue to keep a thousand-year-old tradition alive today. Every winter, the people gather in the village of Uraman Taht, located at the foot of the Zagros Mountains, to commemorate Pir Shaliyar, reenacting his legendary wedding with rituals. Nourished by the region’s deep-rooted culture, this ceremony, interwoven with prayers and chanting, is a spiritual journey that has survived through the ages and is repeated every year.
